Natural Wonders
Nature is the creator of some of the planet `s most wondrous locations and phenomena. From the stark beauty of the Sahara and Gobi deserts and the icescapes of Antarctica to the verdant Amazon Rainforest, nature offers awe-inspiring extremes of landscapes.
Nature has also produced outstanding individual features all over the planet,including:
- waterfalls, such as Victoria Falls
- fjords of Norway
- bodies of inland water as Lake Baikal
- spectacular underwater landscapes, such the Red Sea in Egypt
- towering mountains as Kilimanjaro
- curious caves, such as found in the Carlsbad
Religious Wonders
Many of the World architectural wonders have been inspired by the human desire to express spiritual awe and to honor gods.All of the current major religions have produced splendid edifices as a result of these desires.
For example:
- Buddhism has produced the Temple of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto
- Christianity has produced Chartres Catedral in Moscow; and St. Peter`s Basilica in Italy
- Hinduisum has produced Angkor Wat in Cambodia, temples of Varnasi in India
- Islam has produced the Al-Haram mosque in Mecca
- Sikhism has produced Harimandir Sahib, or Golden Temple in India
